Cozy Bites & Autumn Delights

By: Lateefah Gobir

Winter is approaching, at least a few of these recipes must become part of your fall. From soups to desserts to foods that will warm your soul, the best setting for fall would be one where you sip warm drinks, listen to good beats, and indulge in these delights.

Creamy Butternut Squash Soup

This is one of my favorite comfort foods for the fall. The squash in this soup is buttery and smooth and the spices of nutmeg and cinnamon will easily make this a fall favorite for you. If you want to increase the flavor, you can top it with coconut cream and roasted pumpkin seeds. You can eat it with bacon or some type of bread for a comforting meal, or you can serve it as a light appetizer when you have guests over.

Apple Cider Glazed Chicken

This is one of my go-to dishes when I want something savory and filling. The apple cider glaze gives a sweet and tangy kick to the chicken, increasing the flavor. You can eat it with roasted carrots, brussels sprouts, or roasted potatoes. This is good for a weeknight meal or can be made for holiday gatherings.

During Fall, apples attract more attention, and these muffins are the perfect fall treat. Light and fluffy with large chunks of caramelized apple, they are the perfect fall muffins. Sprinkle a little cinnamon sugar on top and they are ready for busy mornings or a cozy day at home.

Nutty Blondies

Nutty blondies during this time of the year are one of my favorite sweets desserts. They are soft and chewy with a warm and rich flavor, and they are easy to make. Hazelnuts or pistachios are my favorite nuts to add for a bit of extra flavor, but they are just as good without nuts if you cannot have it. I enjoy these during the day with a hot cup of tea or in the evening when I am reading. These go quickly whenever I make a batch to share at a party, and they are suitable for any gathering or occasion, especially in the fall.

Pumpkin Bread With Chocolate Chips

This bread is always in my kitchen as soon as it hits October. The pumpkin puree not only keeps the bread moist but also  gives the bread a deep and rich flavor. The chocolate chips balance one another and give melted and gooey clumps in each bite. The smell of the spices cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla has my house smelling like a bakery. I make it in big batches so I can with friends and family, and freeze a loaf to snack on later.

During the fall, cooking is not about just making a recipe but rather taking time to enjoy each moment, celebrate the beauty that comes with the season, and share warm and comforting meals with friends and family. Each of the dishes I have put together adds warmth to your cold evenings to relax you.  Whether you are baking, stirring, or sipping, every dish gives the feeling and aesthetic fall.

So, which one of these fall favorites are you trying first?
