Friendsgiving is basically thanksgivings cooler, cozier cousin– it’s less pressure, more laughs and with your chosen people.
Whether it’s your first time hosting, or you’ve been the designated planner of the group; here’s your step by step guide to pulling off the perfect night.
Gather your guest list and pick a time & place
Let’s begin with the logistics. Start by finding who you want to invite to friendsgiving. Whether it’s your classmates, coworkers, roommates, or even your neighbors – anyone who brings good vibes. Once you decide who you want to be there, start thinking about when and where you want the night to go down.
You need a nice space that can fit all your friends. An open eating area or even just a living room can work. Then, pick a time and date that works for everyone; an early evening start time can be perfect so there’s no rush.
Assign the menu
Now you need to figure out the menu. Do it potluck style! No one should have to prepare the meal all by themselves. You’ll want everyone to bring a different dish so there is a variety, don’t forget about dessert. Think mashed potatoes, rolls, stuffing, turkey, veggies; all the classics. I’ve been in charge of making the mac and cheese for the last three Friendsgivings, and it's a hit!

Set the scene
Make sure to plan ahead; decorate if you want, and make sure to have paper plates and utensils. When everyone fills in, have a table available to display a buffet of food. Then, light some candles, play some holiday music and get ready to dig in.
Fill the room with love and thanks
The best part of any Friendsgiving is dinner time– be prepared to be stuffed after, but always save energy for games. My friends and I also like to go around and say what we’re thankful for. It brings the wholesomeness into the holiday. Friendsgiving isn’t about perfection. It's about comfort and making memories.
