It’s Time to Plan Your Halloween Costume

By: Alana Beltran

Ladies! If you are reading this, you need to order your Halloween costume right now!

No more waiting until less than a week before the holiday to order something that may fit you, or waiting for your group to get their sh*t together on what to be. Spooky Season is just around the corner, so let’s lock in with some affordable and available costumes.

Here are my top five Halloween costumes for this season that could just be lying in your closet.

Strawberry Shortcake

An iconically sweet character whose outfit is not that hard to steal.

For this, all you will need are:

  • A red gingham dress, skirt or shorts

  • A lacy white top

  • Green socks

  • Black Mary Janes or boots

  • A red beret

And of course, any strawberry accessory will pull the outfit together!

Paddington Bear

Paddington has such an easy outfit to replicate. I am jealous of anyone dressing as him this year! His four-piece suit includes:

  • A red bucket hat

  • A blue jacket with buttons

  • Beige bottoms

  • Rain boots

Extra points to you if you decide to make his cute tag he wears around his neck!

Maxxine/Pearl

For the girls, gays and theys who are looking to do something a little more sexy this year: the ax-swinging country girl Maxine is the perfect choice for you.

All you need is:

  • Overalls

  • A red bandana

  • Boots

Be sure to include her hot ice-blue eyeshadow.

Betty Boop

I have done this costume in the past, and it was the easiest, most recognizable costume I have ever done! Betty’s iconic 1930s look will get a lot of heads turning and make for the perfect Instagram post.

Here’s what you need:

  • A red mini dress

  • Large gold hoop earrings

  • A red or white garter

Mia Thermopolis, The Princess Diaries

One of Anne Hathaway's most iconic roles, Mia Thermopolis in The Princess Diaries truly gives a look that any “it girl” could pull off (including you).

Here’s what you need:

  • A white dress

  • Black sunglasses

  • Over-the-ear headphones

  • White gloves

  • A tiara

Halloween is a time to have fun and go out with your friends. So, whether you decide to go all out this year or just throw on a pair of animal ears, the most important thing is to enjoy the night and make some memories.
