Going to the Dentist
It is important for your child to develop good relationship with a good dentist. First impressions and experiences about your child’s first visit to the dentist will be remembered for the rest of your child’s life.
Your child first visit to the dental clinic should be a happy moment which can be timed to an occasions like his first birthday or second birthday. However, if you already see cavity or any injured teeth, then you must bring your child to the dentist at once.
The First Dental Visit:
Show your child the dental clinic before the actual visit. Have a friendly introduction with the Dentist. Let him build his trust to the dentist and make him feel comfortable inside the dental clinic before [proceeding with the check-up.
If you’re child is ready for the first dental examination, prepare him for the dental appointment. Make sure that your child had enough sleep on the day of his visit. It is also better if you let him take a nap so that he will be in a good mood when he wakes up and will be cooperative.
During your child’s first visit, the dentist will usually examine the set of teeth, jaw bite, gums, tongue, and other oral tissues. He will demonstrate to you and your child proper. Cleaning of your child’s teeth when at home.
If your child would need any dental procedure and has shown that he is ready, then he will be scheduled for the next visit.
When your child becomes comfortable going to the dental clinic he will establish a god rapport with his dentist. This will also pave the way for your child to establish good dental habits for the rest of his life.
